While I was uploading photos of this destination wedding in Lazarou Beach, Sifnos and taking a trip down memory lane while looking at these beautiful moments I realized how lucky I am to have had so many loving and smiling couples this year. Dominique and Katerina were such good-hearted and warm, it made working with them so pleasant!
But let me give you the backstory.
Katerina and Dominique chose to have a destination wedding in Lazarou beach, Sifnos. Sifnos is a Greek island in the Cyclades island group. It’s fringed by sandy beaches such as Chrysopigi beach in the southeast, home to the striking white Chrysopigi Monastery, where this wedding was held. Sifnos is known for its traditional pottery and wedding tradition. Every year countless couples decide to tie the knot on the island, making it the ideal romantic location for couples! Sounds ideal, right?
Dominique loves photography and it was very important for them to dedicate enough time to make sure we had enough time at the end of the ceremony to take many pictures as possible! After the ceremony, we went to the town of Sifnos and took lots of portraits in the little whitewashed streets and corners. After that, we practically followed the setting sun, driving higher and higher on the island where there was still sunlight (and the view was magical!). Natural sunlight and golden hour is my favorite way of lighting my pictures. Plus, the sun always makes people happy and it gives the beautiful bright effect and the cheerful photos I love capturing.
The reception was held in Lazarou Beach – must-visit location if you’re visiting Sifnos and it was blooming with flowers and pretty details curated by Think Happy Events. The couple danced, kissed, cut the cake and toasted all while the summer breeze made us all hope for the future.
What I really enjoyed with Katerina and Dominique and their wedding in Lazarou Beach, Sifnos was the complete confidence they had in me in capturing their wedding. It was obvious how in love they were and what a great time they had with each other. They were full of joy, constantly bursting out laughing together their eyes filled with the glimmer of love. You’d think that by now I would be immune to getting emotional but no, each time is like the first one, always a sucker for a good love story and a couple that can’t ( and won’t) stop kissing each other.
